Artemy Kalinovsky is a Senior Lecturer in East European Studies at the University of Amsterdam where he specializes in the history of modern Russia, Central Asia and the Cold War. He’s the author of A Long Goodbye: The Soviet Withdrawal from Afghanistan published by Harvard University Press. His most recent book is The Laboratory of Socialist Development: Cold War Politics and Decolonization in Soviet Tajikistan published by Cornell University Press.
