Tricia Starks is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Arkansas where she teaches and researches the intersection of culture and public health in the Russian and Soviet context. Sheās the author of The Body Soviet: Hygiene, Propaganda, and the Revolutionary State published by the University of Wisconsin Press in 2008. Her new book is Smoking under the Tsars: A History of Tobacco in Imperial Russia published by Cornell University Press.
